This is a great collection of short stories set in worlds that will be familiar to some, with characters many have grown to love.
Some spectacular authors in this collection: Jim Butcher, Seanan McGuire, Kevin J. Anderson, Rob Thurman, Tanya Huff, Kat Richardson, Lucy A. Snyder, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Jim C. Hines, and more.
We get to see some familiar faces, like Butcher’s Molly Carpenter, and Anderson’s Dan Shamble. It was especially neat getting the Molly Carpenter story, as we don’t always get outside of Dresden’s point of view in that world. We get to see some new faces as well. These are all stories with an overall theme of monsters: not all of them might be the one dimensional bad guys. Some of them are the good guys.
This was a high point in anthologies for me, with so many great writers in this one. Normally, I don’t review a lot of them, as either the short stories don’t grab me, or they disappoint by being too short. These were all well crafted, showcasing the artistry of the authors involved. Well worth picking up.
