The beloved Lou Reed album is presented with 26 unreleased tracks and a 1990 concert video.
Lou Reed’s 1989 album, New York, is receiving a new 3 CD/1 DVD/2 LP deluxe reissue from Rhino on September 25. (Orders direct from the Rhino site will also include a cassette version of the album, as pictured above.)
Lou Reed fans will argue over which of his sometimes-polarizing albums are actually secret masterpieces, but New York is one that is universally adored. The street poet of the ’60s and ’70s made a triumphant return with memorable tunes like “Dirty Blvd.” (which hit #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart), “Romeo Had Juliette,” and “Busload of Faith.”
The new deluxe reissue includes a bonus CD of previously unreleased live versions of every song on the New York album. The third CD contains the single version of “Romeo Had Juliette,” the instrumental B-side “The Room,” 10 tracks of songs-in-progress, and two unreleased live performances of fan favorites: “Sweet Jane” and “Walk on the Wild Side.”
Also included is a DVD of The New York Album, a long out-of-print concert video from 1990. The video, making its DVD debut, features Lou Reed live in Montreal at the Theatre St. Denis.
