review Always Shine

It’s tough enough to be a struggling actor, but supporting a best friend’s similar dream while not getting competitive, or jealous, or even paranoid is a bigger ask. In Always Shine, Sophia Takal’s tense psychological thriller, she introduces two friends hoping to reconnect during a trip to Big Sur, but after settling in to a picturesque but isolated location, do they even want to know each other any more? The wine flows, things get awkward, and then some. Mackenzie Davis (Black Mirror) and Caitlin FitzGerald (Masters of Sex) give stand out performances as two self-critical up and comers whose ideas of success are possibly dangerously based on what the other is thinking. And they aren’t so happy with that.

In select theaters and available for rental for the cheapie price of $3.99 here http://alwaysshine.oscilloscope.net/ . Come on, kick in some change for indie film, from the Oscilloscope, the company founded by Adam Rauch.
