We’re starting a new feature, called Pop Culture Beast’s Gift Guide for Geeks. It’ll continue throughout the year as we find new and unique things that work perfectly with your favorite geek’s fandom, and right around the Christmas season seemed the perfect time to get started.
Gift Guide for Geeks: LoTR Edition
There’s so many unique and awesome gifts out there with a Lord of the Rings tie-in or theme. Here’s a few I thought were especially great:
Tree of Life Pendant with LotR quote
I’ll start with something beautiful that won’t hurt your wallet. Celtic Knot Works does some really great pewter jewelry that looks even better than the promotional pictures. This particular pendant is a tree of life design with the phrase ‘Not all who wander are lost’ on the back. It’s a line from a poem about Aragorn seen in The Fellowship of the Ring. I’ve got one of these myself, and I was particularly pleased with how great it looks.
Here’s the purchase page, it’s only $16.50.
One tip: join the email list. From time to time, they send out some really great coupon codes for generous discounts or buy x amount in dollars get a particular item free type promotions.
Book Lovers’ Soy Candle, The Shire
I see these candles advertised all over the internet, and I’ve seen a lot of really great reviews. I’d love to try one. Frostbeard Studio does all kinds of book themed candles, and this one smells like The Shire–oakmoss, clover, aloe, and a hint of pipe tobacco. Sounds cozy.
They’re $18.00, and you can get them here.
A little more pricey but absolutely stunning is the Dwarven Ring of Power from Badali Jewelry.
I’ve seen one of these in person, and it’s stood the test of time on a guy who’s prone to ending up with his rings bent out of shape. The craftsmanship is top notch, and the stones they use are gorgeous.
The Futhark Runes on the top of the ring read:
AKSI OG HAMAR ALDREI BRUT
“Axe That Never Dulls, Hammer That Never Breaks”
The Futhark Runes inside the band read:
BUSTADUR UNDIR FJALSHID, FULUR AF GUL OG DYRGRIPUR
“Halls Under The Mountains, Filled With Gold And Treasure”
The small details in this one really make the piece, as they’ve got the dwarven phrases reproduced both on the outside band of the ring as well as inscription on the inside of the band. Worth every penny.
The Dwarven Ring of Power is $199, and can be bought here.
Celebrated artist Karen Hallion has her work appearing on
tee shirts everywhere, and her Lady of Light art nouveau style portrait of Galadriel can be had at TeePublic for about $20.
