When “Shortbus” initially came out, all the talk was about the sexually explicit scenes that were in the film. The people who actually saw it spoke about how the film blended music, love, sex, and comedy into a beautiful carnival of self discovery and overcoming one’s inhibitions. It pontificates about human sexuality and desire in a playful flirty fashion that stimulates and tantalizes the audience into wanting to join the good times discovered on the screen. This being it’s 10 year-anniversary it’s time to truly appreciate the film that thumbed its nose at the mainstream’s views of sexuality and desire.
