Blindspot Spoilers

We start the episode with Zapata admitting to Reade that she stole the knife from evidence. The one that proves his old buddy Freddy killed the pedo coach. They’re waiting outside a building for something to happen (they’d had warning) and a shooter comes running out of the building just as a catering truck blows up.

It’s quickly evident that we’re coming in at the middle of the action. Nas starts talking about getting Weller and Jane back? Did Sandstorm grab them?

Assistant US Attorney (the guy who we last remember going hard after Mayfair) Weitz shows up to ‘audit’ the teams actions, as whatever they’ve gotten themselves involved in, Homeland is interested. Hrm.

Ah, a US/China political summit. The car bomb going off outside something like that would do it.

Weitz is obviously on a witch hunt. Explaining what’s happened to him gets it explained to us.

Using the same clue that originally got them to Rich DotCom (the online puppy forum that was a cover for hiring criminals), they get Jane and Weller undercover for a heist. Since the one footing the bill can’t be traced, they’re going in to find out what’s happening.

Weitz wants to use the case to get more information on what’s going on. Is he Sandstorm?

Nas tries to get Weitz to cooperate. I’m betting she’s the only one who’s going to get what they want here.

Weitz strong arms one of the people they caught into telling them that the guy who hired them is one of the most wanted arms dealers in the world. No one has put a face to the name, yet. So basically, this is why Jane and Weller are missing.

They figure out that one of the captured people handed off a radar cloaking device that is likely hiding whatever boat or plane they’re hiding Jane and Weller on.

Zapata talks to Reade, seems that someone she knows saw her at the precinct, so she knows they have to get the knife back or she’s screwed. Reade doesn’t want to turn in his friend Freddy.

Throughout the retelling of the operation gone wrong, one of the captured guys keeps telling stories as though he was the bad ass of the bunch. Uh huh. We know that was really Jane, dude.

Reade and Zapata find Jane, and she tells the group that what they stole was actually a person–a Chinese scientist. The scientist was working on a tsunami bomb. She also lets them know their guess of Weller being on a boat was correct.

Jane tells her part of the story…and yep, the heroics were all her and Weller. They quickly figure out the other captured woman was lying, and she knew the guy that organized them all. Weller got on the yacht on purpose, ditching Jane to get a look at Marconi.

Patterson saves the day with figuring out that IT woman who got caught is under the direct pay of the arms dealer, and she tells them they’re actually auctioning off the Chinese scientist. When they pull up the online dark web auction, they find out they’re also auctioning off Weller. He got caught.

Nas decides to go under Weitz’s nose to do something illegal to save Weller. She uses the IT woman’s offshore account to bid on and win Weller and the scientist. Weller figures out that the guy who was organizing everything is actually the arms dealer. Nas sets everything up to basically strong arm Weitz into helping them–he can get credit for nabbing the 8th most wanted, or for blowing the whole thing and getting Weller killed. Kinda figured Nas was going to be the only one getting anything out of the relationship.

Weller (of course) manages to escape. The team (of course) finds them at the location. They (of course) nab the bad guy. Weitz (of course) still flips out. He threatens Nas, but I think she gets more under his skin. She’s one to wonder about.

She gets Patterson more firmly on her side by giving her access to all the top secret systems she brought, and puffs her up full of compliments. I’m more convinced there’s something off about her…is she the Sandstorm asset?

Reade and Zapata cook up a plan to get the knife back into evidence by planting it in a lab tech’s car that had been censured for careless handling of evidence. They’re counting on him to panic and put it back.

Weller admits to Jane that he still considers her a friend. Is Weller’s fuzzy little heart starting to thaw? Aww. We knew you’d come around, Weller. He does a little team building by getting her to come to the baby shower party thing for his kid to be.

Nas is back to getting close to Weller. She’s inserting herself slowly into all their lives. It’s clever–she knows the fastest way to Weller is that fuzzy little heart of his. Anyone he cares about, he’s fiercely loyal to. I am liking her less and less. If she’s not Sandstorm, she’s up to something else.

Reade gives his buddy a bus ticket. If he’s turning him in, he’s at least going to help him run.

Roman shows up to see Jane. Uh oh. Since she got tattled on, who knows what he’s going to do? He’s the one that picked up the message, so did he out her to Shepard? He seems upset, tells her he wants her by his side for Phase 2, which is happening in a few hours. Is it a trap? A test?
