Blindspot Spoilers

If season one of Blindspot was all about drawing us in with mystery, intrigue, and conspiracy–season two is all about the answers, if the premiere was anything to go by. Gero wrote a fantastic script that reassures us that all the action is still there, and will be even better.

The episode opened by showing us two things–Jane’s full potential, and how bored Weller and company are without her. Whether they forgive her remains to be seen, but it looks like at least Weller is willing to give her a chance.

Are we still completely convinced of who is in the right here, though? That’s where as a writer, Martin Gero has us right where he wants us–wondering. Questioning our own judgement, seeing that until we have all the facts (which Gero isn’t likely to show for a long time) who’s the good guys and who’s the bad guys (or the pawns, as Weller points out) remains to be seen.

During the episode, we get a lot of information thrown at us very quickly. The Tattoo cases were high profile and secret to begin with, but we learn (enter Nas Kamal, played by Archie Panjabi) that there was an even more secret team watching them, and they knew what the big picture was starting to look like.

This is where the team learns just what kind of oubliette Jane was thrown into, and that she may not be too terribly willing to cooperate. Inexplicably, she does. She’s in a spot, and at this point, she’s more angry with her covert handlers and this gets her to a place where she can find out what’s happening, and who needs to pay.

There’s where it gets even weirder. Going back in undercover, she meets a man who says he’s her brother…and the head of the shadowy organization is her adoptive mother?

Honestly, I’m not betting on any of what we learned being the straightforward truth. Nothing else has been so far, so I’m not holding my breath here.

Great way to kick off the season. I’m even more invested in watching.
