Without further adieu!
Godzilla The Showa-Era Films – An excellent collection of classic Godzilla of every type. These are a blast and Criterion has definitely treated them well. Great features and super fun films make this a great gift.
All About Eve – One of the greatest films of all times featuring the flawless Betty Davis gets the Criterion treatment and it is an absolute must have. A perfect gift for film fans of any ilk.
Haxan – Early silent horror classic. I don’t know that Blair Witch Project would exist if this one didn’t. A definite must have for horror fans.
The Omen Collection & The Fly Collection two of the best home video releases of the year come from our friends at Scream Factory. Complete collections of two horror classics including some on bluray for the first time. Two excellent releases from SF that will make perfect gifts.
Big Trouble in Little China – An absolute classic from the horror master John Carpenter. Another features packed collector’s edition from SF will satisfy any fan of this movie.
Cruising – Arrow video finally delivers the controversial thriller with Al Pacino hunting a serial killer in underground S&M clubs. I don’t think I can sell that any better.
Robocop – The 80s action classic is lovingly released by Arrow here. It’s a gorgeously done release that fans will love. Tons of great features & a great transfer make this a no-brainer.
The Hills Have Eyes 2 – The bonkers sequel to Wes Craven’s classic about cannibals in the desert is given excellent treatment here. The movie might not spectacular but the features are. Craven fans for sure need this.
What else?
Mary – Gary Oldman stars in this vastly underrated and shamefully underseen horror flick. I don’t want to give too much away about it but it’s a fun watch. I mean it’s Gary Oldman going mad on a boat.
The Wizard of Oz 4K! Glorious beautiful transfer loaded with features. It’s a, forgive me, wonderful way to see this movie and a perfect gift for the family.
Lastly, in case some folks need some new earbuds to listen to these films without disturbing anyone, which considering all of these movies are great is a little insulting, but I digress. Helm has released an excellent set of wireless ear-buds that are a great alternative to the rather pricey airpods from Apple. Compatible with most devices and having excellent sound at a really affordable price, Helm’s Wireless Bluetooth TW5’s are a perfect gift for film fans, music fans, or just anyone needing a great set of wireless ear buds.
