TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET
SARAH NAUGHTON’S MUSICAL COMEDY IS BACK AT FEINSTEIN’S/54 BELOW
The raucous and uproarious musical that reveals inner secrets and the truths of recording audiobooks is back by popular demand for a second show this winter.
New York based comedian, actress, and audio-book narrator Sarah Naughton (ABC’s “The View”, Lincoln Center Theater) announces the return of her musical comedy show, “Trapped In The Closet”, to Feinstein’s/54 Below on December 2nd, 2017 at 9:30pm. Co-written and directed by Sarah Naughton and Jake Weinstein, Sarah stars in a musical adventure set inside her bedroom closet-turned-recording studio as she shares tales from the unsung world of audiobook narration. The show incorporates stand up comedy, dance, and immersive theater, all while maintaining the hallmarks of a traditional 54Below show: Broadway quality singing and storytelling. For tickets starting at $25, please go here to 54Below’s website.
Back and better than ever, “Trapped In The Closet” provides a fun behind-the-scenes look at the making of audiobooks. Over 3.88 million audiobooks were downloaded in 2015, yet most people know little about what goes into recording them. In this wildly theatrical journey, Sarah pays homage to some of the most ridiculous – and spiciest – books she’s ever been paid to read out loud. Sarah and the cast sing a selection of Broadway favorites, pop tunes, and original songs and raps. At its core, “Trapped In The Closet” is a show about the lengths passionate creatives are willing to go to achieve their dreams and learning to embrace every step along that path. The 75 minute adventure provides a night of musical storytelling that is as hilarious as it is personal and touching.
In addition to Sarah Naughton, the cast features Jake Weinsten (BAM, La Jolla Playhouse), Elizabeth McGuire (Founder & Co-Artistic Director at ToUch Performance Art), Maddy Apple (White Christmas National Tour, Goodspeed Opera House), Colette Dong (ToUch Performance Art), Will Melones (Empire), and Tristan Marzeski (The View UpStairs). Vishal Vaidya (Groundhog’s Day, City Center Encores) guest stars. “Trapped In The Closet” was choreographed by Elizabeth McGuire.

Seriously y’all, you need to go see this for me. It’s a fantastic musical, wonderful choreography, and some damned funny dialogue. It’s more than worth the price, and with a couple drinks in you, it’s even funnier than it would be if you were sober. And if you’re planning on not drinking, don’t worry, it’s still funny, you’ll still snort with laughter.

Robin is a semi-coherent, almost sentient being. She has some strange ideas, and some even stranger friends. Disabled, queer, agnostic, accident-prone & other adjectives.
She loves music, and talks about new releases from bands frequently. She also enjoys going to shows to recap them, and listening to albums by bands that "mainstream" music isn't interested in, because they're often the best music out there.
