Metamorphsis:
Dr. Peter Houseman has developed a ground breaking anti-aging serum but none of his peers take him seriously. Pressed for time before he is shut down; peter decides to prove his serum by secretly testing it on himself. Of course, anyone who’s ever heard of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde or The Fly knows how this turns out and soon Monster Peter is terrorizing his peers and pretty, bare chested women all over town.
Metamorphosis has some pretty good practical effects but be ready for some hideous dialogue read by actors of varying degrees of ability. The film picture quality in this release is only so-so for Blu-ray. The image is sharp but appears a bit muddy throughout and there is some motion ghosting in action shots The disc includes no extras for Metamorphosis except the trailer.
Beyond Darkness:
With Beyond Darkness, Scream Factory completes its set of La Casa Sequels. This one is La Casa 5, serving as the follow up to GhostHouse and Witchery. A priest and his family (I was unaware they could marry) move into a new house that was once the site of witches being burned at the stake. Now their evil souls possess the house and terrorize the young family that has trespassed.
Beyond Darkness is about on par plot wise with the previous La Casa offerings. The picture is acceptable but is only slightly less murky and Metamorphosis. The disc includes no extras for Beyond Darkness except the trailer.
